Alpine Glow on Whitney
The rounded, weathered contours of the Alabamas, form a sharp contrast between the sharp-edged crisply sculptured ridges of the Sierra. Though appearing physically very different, both the Alabamas and the Sierras are identical in composition, and are the results of  the same cataclysmic uplifting 100 million years ago. The contrasting difference in appearance comes from different weathering processes.
