Long Way In |
||||
A single temple-mountain sanctuary symbolizing the mythical Mount Meru. It was constructed by Udayaddityavarman II in the mid 11th century, and marked the center of the city that existed before the construction of Angkor Thom. |

Raised Walkway |

The massive size and grandeur of the Baphuon is unrecognisable today because much of the temple is either collapsed or been dismantled. Much of the temple is under restoration and hence off limits to visitors. Open to visitors is the temple's main approach, a 200 m elevated sandstone walkway. |

The Walk |
||||
The original central tower shrine stands 43 m high, and with its four porches crowns the peak of the temple-mountain. Unfortunately the summit has long collapsed. |
