Less idyllic in appearance than Lily Beach, Ethel's narrow and rocky shoreline is still worth an exploration. The tall cliffs with overhanging Pandanus gives this place a more claustrophobic feel, but this is a great place to snorkel as a wonderful reef lies just beyond the shoreline. |

The Cove | ||||
Flying Fish Cove is the beach to head for if you want plenty of facilities. Sitting at the base of a soaring, semicircle, jungle clad cliff wall, this natural harbour is a perfect swimming spot despite being neatly dissected by the island's main jetty. Beyond the shoreline is a narrow reef which supports a rich array of marine life, hence snorkelling at Flying Fish Cove is very popular with visitors. Not far beyond, the reef plunges as the ocean floor drops steeply into a bottomless abyss. Shore diving from here is definitely a good option. Kayaking from the cove is also very popular. |

A grassy promenade sits above the narrow stretch of sand and pebbles here at Flying Fish Cove. There are bench seats, sheltered gazebos, freshwater showers, and even public barbecues. Nearby are indoor toilets and hot water showers. There is even a small supermarket within a few minutes' walk distance. |

The cove can be busy on weekends when the locals arrive. As there is a boat ramp here, many locals launch their boats from here and the area can get quite congested with vehicles and boat trailers. |
