Located on the very wild south-western part of the island, Winifred Beach requires some effort in getting to. The 4WD track to Winifred Beach is not often maintained, and has lots of fallen trees across the track. Unless one has the right equipment and skills to rid the track of these obstacles, it is a long ardous track to reach the carpark of Winifred Beach. The real challenge comes after reaching the carpark as the walking trail to Winifred Beach winds down from the high plateau to the coast. This trail is through lush rainforest and gets quite uneven and overgrown at many places. It is well marked with red triangular markers. |

The rainforest vegetation seems to get thicker as you get closer to the coast, and then suddenly opens out into the most fantastic view over the west of the island. From the high cliff perch, descend to the beach is via a steep aluminium stairway, and then clambering over a number of rocks. The beach is very rocky with a large number of beautiful pools and channels that have been carved by eons of wave acton. |

There is a large cavern to explore, and snorkeling around the rocks can be spectacular too. Care must however be taken regarding the rapidly changing tides as a number of visitors have been caught in the wrong spot due to the fast incoming tide. |
