Located on the eastern coast of the island, getting to Greta Beach is quite an experience. A thrilling drive down the steep 4WD track through dense rainforest from the high central plateau to the coastal terrace is definitely a highlight, but more awaits the visitor.

Greta Beach and the surrounding Cliffs

The southern end of Greta Beach has a number of fascinating rock structures and boulders, and even a shallow cavern has been carved out of the cliff wall there through the centuries of oceanic sculpturing.

  Cliff Cavern

Greta Beach is a spectacular place. It is a wonderful sandy beach that is surrounded by high vertical cliffs on all sides. Unless reaching there by boat, getting to this beach would seem impossible except that a long aluminium stairway now enables casual visitors to safely descend down the cliff to access the beach.

  Stairway

Greta being surrounded by high cliffs and craggy outcrops gives a great feeling of isolation. Unfortunately Greta Beach (and Dolly Beach nearby) suffers as being one of the dirtiest beaches on the island, as many bits of floating sea debris gets washed up onto its shores.
