Basic Ice Climbing Course
by the Chinese Mountaineering Association in February 2002  
  
 

The first day was essentially theory lessons on topics such as:

  1. The history of mountaineering in China - which gave a very interesting insight to the turmoil and achievements of the Chinese in mountaineering history
  2. Basic mountaineering first aid – which covered topics such as: acute mountain sickness, frost bites and cold injuries, trauma and fractures, evacuation, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  3. Introduction to personal gear, technical snow and ice equipment, and basic knots. 
  4. Introduction to fitness and physical training – which covers theory of fitness and exercise physiology, to an exemplary fitness training program schedule
