Base Camp 4100 m - High Camp, Haba Snow Mountain 4480 m
14 May 2004

  headed for highcamp
all geared up and ready for our climb to high camp

  chill out
not the ideal weather for mountaineering

  clifton
Clifton taking a short break before tackling the giant granite slope

  mist coming in
the mist settled below us obscuring our view towards base camp

  big stride
still full of energy and stamina, Mike manages better on the mountains than most of the rest

  snow slopes
care in footing as we climbed across the snowy slopes

  pit stop
another rest stop on our way up

  ridge climb
the route to high camp was generally straight forward, following this distinct granite spur

  snow plodding
the snow got deeper as we plodded higher

  setting camp
Mike attempted setting up this complicated tent on his own after arriving at high camp

  highcamp
storing our packs into the tents before they get buried by the constant snowfall

  high altitude chef
a simple meal of hot soup was enough to perk us all up

  sheltered
we were quite comfortable and warm in our tents despite the continued snowfall outside

  cosy comfy
Clifton enjoying the superior warmth of the feathered fabric
